Authored by SMC³ on September 21, 2023
Recently Danielle Dillinger, a Data Analyst for SMC³ was given the opportunity to speak on a panel for the Global Women in STEM Leadership Summit at The Starling in Atlanta, GA. Danielle was able to sit down and give an inside look at her experience.

“I was honored to be able to participate in a panel discussion about Women Empowering Women at the Global Women in STEM Leadership Summit. One of the questions I spoke about was, “How do you navigate imposter syndrome?” To conquer this feeling, it is important to trust yourself while also surrounding yourself with people who build you up. Chances are, you are your harshest critic.”
“After I spoke, I was able to attend several sessions led by some of the most impressive and influential women I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. The most impactful theme of the sessions surrounded the importance of mentoring, being open to listening, and career advice.”
- What are the biggest opportunities in the industry out there now?
The biggest opportunity in the industry is AI. I heard from major organizations like Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin, UPS, and many others at this leadership summit. Each company spoke about the implementation of AI and how it can help eliminate tedious, repetitive tasks.
- What is the best career advice you’ve ever received?
To seek mentors. Finding people that you admire and who are willing to invest in you is crucial. Mentors can help you tap into potential that you never knew was there. Having mentors has helped guide me through my career by having someone willing to criticize me while also helping me build on my strengths.
- When did you know you wanted to be involved in technology?
My sophomore year of college. I walked into my first information systems course and fell in love with all the concepts and nuisances of the course surrounding information systems like SAP. I knew it was my niche when many of my peers complained about different technological aspects that completely fascinated me.
- What skills should someone new to the field develop to be successful?
A desire to never stop learning. Technology is not something that is stagnant. As technology evolves, you must have a desire to continue to dig deeper and know more. It is a field that you will truly never be an expert in which can be exciting.
- What three things would go in your room 101?
Nintendo Switch, a cozy couch, and my TV (most likely playing Law and Order SVU)
