SMC³’s account manager of logistics service providers, Vince Dattilo, is constantly in discussion with customers and prospects regarding SMC³’s LTL solutions and how their businesses can efficiently manage and simplify all aspects of their LTL freight decisions. Get to know more about Vince and his role at SMC³ in this behind-the-scenes interview.
Why do you like working on the sales side of the business?
I have been in sales most of my adult life. The things I enjoy most about sales have changed as I have grown in my career. It gives me the opportunity to meet a lot of people on different levels, all having different expectations. I enjoy learning about the companies I work with and being able to help them in a consultative way, making their job a little easier. The thing I like most is the long-lasting relationships I get to build with all sorts of people from all around the country.
What’s the best part about working at SMC³?
The best part is the people I work with and the leadership team I work for. They are dedicated to both their customers and employees. SMC³ places an emphasis on the quality of life. The company offers a flexible work environment, continued education and training opportunities and the leadership team genuinely cares about their employees and welcome suggestions and feedback. SMC³ also has community outreach initiatives, which are a great way to give back to our local community.
What are new customers surprised to learn about SMC³ products?
I am one of the lucky ones because I get to speak to new customers and prospects daily and it surprises me how many people have heard of SMC³ but are unfamiliar with our robust portfolio of logistics intelligence solutions. I love educating them on our LTL solutions and helping them not only save time, money, and resources but also becoming an extension of their business. New customers are most surprised by the professionalism and support they receive from SMC³ and when they come on board, they are becoming a partner for life.
How do you maintain a strong business relationship with your customers, and what’s the most important aspect of that dynamic?
The simple answer is “trust”. Building trust is the single most important aspect of any relationship. I truly care about each and every person I come in contact with, whether it is a current customer or a prospect interested in SMC³. I keep my customers updated on our cutting-edge LTL solutions and I make sure they have everything they need to be successful in this ever-changing market and most importantly “always deliver what I promise and only promise what I can deliver.”
When you’re not working, what are some of your hobbies?
I have three children in college, and one is playing college soccer, so my wife and I catch as many games as possible. When we are not watching soccer games, I spend my free time working out, going on runs, and enjoying a movie.
